Ingredients:
1 loaf of Challah
4 eggs
2 egg yolks
2 pints of half-and-half
16 oz frozen berries
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp vanilla
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350*F. Butter a 9×13 dish. Cut challah into 2 inch chunks and arrange in the baking dish. Place in the oven while mixing the custard. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk together eggs, yolks, sugars until slightly lighter in color. Add vanilla and half and half. Whisk until combined. Remove the baking dish with the challah from the oven. The challah should be slightly dryer. Pour berries over the top of the challah and then pour the custard. Cover with foil and press lightly to submerge the bread chunks in the custard. Bake covered for 45 minutes, uncover and bake another 15 minutes. Enjoy hot out of the oven, room temperature or even cold.
